The fire investigation program ensures the thorough investigation of fires within the county's unincorporated area and it's smaller cities.
On average, the Fire Marshal's Office investigates approximately 150 fires per year. At all hours of the day or night, a fire marshal is on call to respond to fires involving:
- Serious injury or death of a citizen or firefighter
- Arson or other criminal acts
- Damage to structures
- Explosions
- Fireworks
- Other significant fire losses
All major fire losses are methodically investigated. Fire marshals work closely with the Clark County Sheriff, local police departments, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and several different insurance companies to track down and prosecute arsonists.
