Project summary
With help from residents, businesses, and property owners, Clark County will develop a subarea plan for the Discovery/Fairgrounds area. The plan will include a vision for the area and targeted projects that can be built in the next six years. The plan will also include a design framework based on general principles (PDF) established by the Board of Clark County Commissioners.
Initial Recommendations document (PDF) has been drafted from the discussions of the advisory committee as of December 2009. Sounding board members represent diverse backgrounds and interests, including neighborhood associations, property owners, city of Ridgefield, Port of Ridgefield, and Clark County Fairgrounds, amphitheater, and planning and transportation staff.
The Discovery/Fairgrounds subarea is the second area within the Three Creeks Special Planning Area to be studied.
What’s next
An open house is scheduled for March 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pleasant View Church of the Nazarene, 801 NE 194th St., Ridgefield. The advisory group focused initially on the abundance of residentially-zoned land within the sub-area, and the idea that the Discovery Corridor should be an economic development engine for Clark County. County planners will use your input to prepare a more formal proposal for the Planning Commission and the Board of Clark County Commissioners.
The Planning Commission will review the planner's staff report at a work session on April 1 at the Public Service Center building, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver.
