The in-person period to file a Declaration of Candidacy for elective public office will begin on Monday, May 14 and end on Friday, May 18, 2012. Elective positions subject to this new candidate filing period in 2012 include U.S. Senator and Representative, statewide administrative offices including Governor, State Supreme Court, state legislative positions, two county commissioner positions, all ten Superior Court judge positions, Clark Public Utility District Commissioner for District No. 1 and 222 Republican and Democratic precinct committee officer positions. Anyone interested in filing in person for an open office should plan on visiting the Clark County Elections Department between 8:00 AM, Monday, May 14 and 5:00 PM, Friday, May 18.
Candidates can also file as a candidate using the Internet. The online candidate filing option will be available beginning at 9:00 AM, Monday, May 14 and will stop being at 4:00 PM, Friday, May 18. To file online, just visit our website at: http://clarkvotes.org. In order to file online as a candidate, a citizen must have a valid email address and be registered to vote in the jurisdiction for which they are filing. Candidates will also be able to pay the candidate filing fee online using a valid Visa or MasterCard credit card.
This year’s Primary will be held on August 7, the first Tuesday in August. The General election will be held on November 6, 2012.
