The Clark County Juvenile Recovery Court is a program focused on reducing substance abuse and criminal behavior in youth while increasing personal responsibility through intense court intervention and treatment. Frequent drug testing, drug treatment, court appearances, sanctions, and rewards are used to promote long-term sobriety, accountability and productive lifestyles.
Probation Counselor Karen Lucas |
Juveniles with substance abuse problems that have gotten in trouble with the law are accepted into this specialty program by order of the Court, if they meet the eligibility and screening requirements.
A key component of Recovery Court is the focus on alcohol/drug treatment. When a youth enters the program, they, and usually their parents, are required to participate in an intensive treatment program.
In addition to substance abuse treatment, court appearances, pro-social activities, and probation appointments, drug testing will be required. The program offers a variety of additional services, like education programs, family counseling, job training, mental health services, and recreational planning. Needed competency skills are taught in the community. Throughout the program, building skills and putting together a network of support is emphasized.
