The natural draft prune dryer is a simple, one-story, wood frame building. The original portion, built for William Arndt in about 1898, measured approximately 14 feet by 15 feet. William’s son Fred expanded the building himself in 1920 to 20 feet by 40 feet. The gable-roofed, rectangular building incorporates a partially roofed open loading platform at the southeast corner and a narrow shed-roofed extension on the north elevation. The building remains unpainted both inside and out and presents an appearance virtually unchanged since 1920. The property also has productive, mature prune trees with several trees that were planted in the 1890s.

  • Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
