The house still has many of its original features. The house is distinguished by the front gable with a gambrel roof line and the ornate oval window. Inside the house, many original fixtures including lighting, plumbing, and wood work have been preserved.

Improvements made to the house have been carefully designed to continue with the original style. The addition of the front porch, for example, is larger than would be typical for the style, but replicates the posts and balustrades found elsewhere on the house.

Floyd Arty and Minnie Swan were the first to live in the house. The surrounding area was platted as Swan’s addition and was part of the first annexation to the city of Vancouver.

  • Listed on the Clark County Heritage Register in 2002.
