Vancouver, WA – Clark County Public Works and Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation will host a public meeting for the Fisher-Mill Plain Neighborhood Park development project on Thursday, October 16. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Harmony Elementary School gymnasium, 17404-A Northeast 18th St.

Fisher-Mill Plain Neighborhood Park is located on Northeast 172nd Avenue at Fifth Street. Earlier this year it was used as a temporary off-leash dog park until construction was completed at Pacific Community Park. Construction of Fisher-Mill Plain Neighborhood Park is currently scheduled to begin in 2012, but may start sooner if funding allows.

Public input at this stage is very important, and all interested neighbors are encouraged to attend. At the public meeting, project staff will present several concept plans for review, discussion and input from neighbors. These plans will show different ways the park might be developed. Comments gathered at the public meeting will help in preparing a proposed concept plan based on funding, site requirements and neighborhood priorities.

Neighbors unable to attend the public meeting may still participate in the process. All the presentation materials will be posted on the project Web page along with an electronic comment form starting October 17. All comments must be received by October 26. The project Web page address is: http://www.clarkparks.org/projects/fisher.htm

Design and construction of Fisher-Mill Plain Neighborhood Park is funded by park impact fees, which are paid whenever new homes are built, and by the real estate excise tax, which is paid whenever property is sold. Maintenance of the park will be funded by the Greater Clark Parks District, a special district approved and funded by voters in the unincorporated urban area of Clark County in 2005.

For more information about this project, please contact Project Manager Troy Pierce at (360) 397-6118 ext. 4403, or by e-mail to Troy.Pierce@clark.wa.gov.
