Vancouver, WA – Clark County Public Works and Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation will start construction at two new neighborhood parks on June 16, 2009.
Jack Z. Fazio Neighborhood Park
Previously known as Lakeshore Neighborhood Park, this 5.2-acre park is located on Northwest 21st Avenue at 99th Street. It will feature a loop trail, playground with sand play area, basketball half court, picnic tables, irrigated open-lawn play area, benches and landscaping.
Clark County officially changed the name of the park to Jack Z. Fazio Neighborhood Park in May. The change came with support from a majority of neighbors (80%) who responded to a survey request. Mr. Fazio sold the property to the county for use as a park, and lived in the house on the northeast corner until his death in 2007.

Tiger Tree Neighborhood Park
This 6-acre park is located a few blocks north of Padden Parkway, between NE 145th and 149th avenues in the Sifton neighborhood. It will feature a forested walking trail, a playground, a small open-lawn play area, picnic tables, benches and landscaping.

Clark County recently awarded the park construction contract for both parks to Paul Brothers, Inc. of Boring, Ore. for $673,806. Construction is scheduled to be complete in late fall 2009.
During construction, the contractor may work Mondays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and may request extended hours if necessary to meet project requirements. The parks will be active work zones during construction, and will be closed to the public to prevent accidents and injuries.
Park neighbors should expect noise and vibration from construction equipment, dust during dry weather, and possible traffic delays when equipment enters and exits the parks.
Park impact fees, which are paid whenever new homes are built, and the real estate excise tax, which is paid whenever property is sold, are paying for design and construction. The Greater Clark Parks District, a special district approved and funded by voters in the unincorporated urban area of Clark County in 2005, will fund maintenance of both parks.
