Animal Control Advisory Board seeks applicants to fill vacancy

Vancouver, WA – The Board of County Commissioners is encouraging persons interested in serving on the Animal Protection and Control Advisory Board to apply for a position open to any Clark County resident who has an interest in animals.

The 10-member, volunteer advisory panel is appointed by the Board. Members help develop policy and ordinances regarding issues of animal protection and control. Appointment will be immediate. Terms are for two years.

Completed applications must be received by Animal Protection and Control by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2011. The office mailing address is P.O. Box 9810, Vancouver 98666-9810. Applications can be left with the receptionist on the third floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

Advisory group meetings are quarterly at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month. Members meet at Clark County Operations Center, 4700 N.E. 78th St.

Duties include:

• Reporting to the commissioners and city councils at least once a year to recommend modifications or additions to code and operations of Animal Protection and Control.
• Ruling on written appeals regarding animal control violations.
• Performing further duties authorized or directed by the county commissioners.
