Road surface treatments
Asphalt Overlays
This is a surface treatment applied to arterial and collector roads for structural assistance in the urban area. We target an overlay of 2". Some times we will apply a thin lift (1") in subdivision or access roads that have surface irregularities.
Open Graded Cold Mix Overlays
This is a surface treatment applied to arterial and collector roads for structural assistance in the rural area. We target a 2.0" overlay for these roads.
Chip Seal
This is a surface treatment that is applied to rural roads to seal the surface and prevent moisture from infiltrating the subgrade. These roads are structurally sound and do not need structural assistance.
Slurry Seal
This is a surface treatment that is applied to the access roads or subdivision in the urban area to prevent moisture from infiltrating the subgrade. These roads are structurally sound.
Cape Seal
This is a surface treatment that is applied in the urban area to roads that are in between a seal or overlay. This is a two step process. A chip seal is applied followed by a slurry seal.
Base Stabilization
A road that requires a base stabilization process is rough and uneven and is in need of structural assistance. The roads is pulverized, cement is added, the road is graded and rolled and a surface treatment is applied.
