The Salmon Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant serves about 36,000 households and an estimated 77,500 Clark County residents living inside the Clark Regional Wastewater District and the city of Battle Ground.
Public Works operates and maintains the plant, along with its pump stations and regional interceptor sewer lines. The department’s goal is to operate the system in a safe, dependable and cost-effective manner that meets all environmental regulations.
The Washington State Department of Ecology recently recognized the plant for 100 percent compliance with laws and regulations to protect the environment during 2010. The award marks the fourth year in a row the Salmon Creek plant has been recognized for perfect compliance. It also is the 11th time the plant has received the award since the program began in 1995.
The plant recently completed an expansion and can handle a peak flow of 14.95 million gallons a day, considerably more than its average daily flow of 6.8 million gallons in 2009.
