As a component of Clark County Solid Waste, the Naturally Beautiful Backyards Program strives to reduce and/or eliminate the use of toxics in home environments and thereby decreasing household hazardous waste, toxic run-off into area streams and rivers, and increasing the livability and overall health of the community. Demo sites are a great way to show people different gardening techniques and give them ideas to try at home. Showing various ways to reduce or eliminate the use of harmful chemicals in your yard is a great way to make natural gardening seem more feasible. Seeing different layouts and plant combinations is an easy way to visualize what you would like to do in your own yard without spending any money. There are so many different approaches and benefits to natural gardening; you can mix and match until you have a combination that meets your needs. Not only do demo sites give you plant ideas, they also provide suggestions for permeable pavers, eco-friendly decking, and at-home composting bins. The diversity at our demo sites offer something for any taste!
