How can NCW help clean up pet waste in my area?

We have many resources available to help you educate your community in unincorporated Clark County. You can choose to initiate a full-scale campaign in your area, by meeting with other members of the community and confronting the problem on many levels, or you can choose to request only a few materials. Whatever your needs are, we will do our best to help you! Resources and materials only available for residents of unincorporated Clark County, WA (quantities may be limited).

Don't forget to let your community know about Neighbors for Clean Water by mentioning it in newsletters, conversations, and community meetings!

You can request a Clark County Clean Water Program staff member to give a presentation at your next neighborhood association or community meeting about the benefits of picking up. Think of this as the first step in introducing pet-waste education to your community.

Email matthew.grimley@clark.wa.gov to request a presentation in your neighborhood.

One on one support

A Clean Water Program staff member can meet with you to discuss the best way to confront the problem in your area, whether it be putting signs in problem spots, instituting a weekly "Pick-up Day" for your neighborhood, or setting up a public bag dispenser on the corner. We'll help connect you with the others in your neighborhood who are as motivated as you are to reduce pet waste pollution, and schedule regular check-ins in case you have questions or need advice.

Email matthew.grimley@clark.wa.gov to request a meeting with a Clean Water Program staff member.

Signs
Signs

We have a variety of signs available to put up in your neighborhood (signs are for those living in unincorporated Clark County, please). The large plastic signs (12 x 18 inches) with the design you see at left are for apartment and condominium complexes, mobile home courts, other multi-family areas, and along areas where dog traffic is high. They can be attached to existing sign posts, fences, and railings.

We also have 6"x6" lawn signs with wire frames (see "Please Scoop" signs below) to post signs in homeowners' yards to remind passing dog walkers to pick up!

Email matthew.grimley@clark.wa.gov to request signs.

Making the message public

Making the Message Public

The more visibility the "Scoop the Poop" message has, the harder it is to ignore! We can provide you and your neighbors with stickers for your trash can that read "We Scoop" to help scooping become the rule rather than the exception. We can also provide window clings with the program's logo, posters, and - when you sign the Canines for Clean Water pledge - even a bandanna for your dog! These materials are for residents of unincorporated Clark County.

Click here to view posters and other materials from the Canines for Clean Water program available for download.

Email matthew.grimley@clark.wa.gov to request stickers or other materials.

Clean-Up Kit tools
Clean-up Kit Tools

We have items available to help make picking up easy (and eliminate as many excuses as possible!). Request them for yourself, a friend, or a neighbor (for residents of unincorporated Clark County). These items include:

-Port-A-Poo bag holders (for the long walk home after the fact)

-"Toss it Here" stickers for your trash can. Volunteer your trash can as a common drop-off point! Even if it's only the night before trash pick-up in your neighborhood, your neighbors will appreciate the convenience of an extra drop-off option.

These items are free - all you have to do is email matthew.grimley@clark.wa.gov and request what you need! Please keep in mind that supplies are limited.
