Pet waste which hasn't been picked up can have serious impacts on both the environment and public health. The bacteria in poop is washed in rainwater runoff to nearby storm drains and ditches, which lead to local streams and rivers. Bacteria can also stay in yards and gardens for weeks or even years after the poop itself has decomposed. Not only that, those who leave a mess behind them give both dog owners and dogs a bad name. |

Our experience doing outreach with Canines for Clean Water has shown us that many of you out there in Clark County are eager to confront this problem in your communities! However, we know that there are many factors which make it difficult to talk to your neighbors about it. It can be an awkward conversation to have, and you might not be able to think of any reasons other than "it's inconsiderate." You might not even know who the culprit leaving surprises in your yard is, or you might feel like you're the only one on your block who gives a darn. |
Neighbors for Clean Water is here to provide support where you need it in order to start a dialogue in your community and educate your neighbors about the benefits of picking up. Not only that, you'll see how many other people in your neighborhood are ready to tackle the problem with you! |
